Backgrounds are fun to learn! Starting with reference photos helps a lot, I have a huge folder of scenery on my hard-drive that I go to for inspiration :>

I hope I can somehow get this good at digital painting one day...
It's a nice painting, love the little shellfish (barnacle things? <geography GSCE and can't remember anything about seasides)
Those little shell things are limpets XD (I only remember this because back in school one attached itself to a desk while we were studying them).
I think the sky, water and sandy area are missing something. Maybe more detail or a more obvious light source? I don't really know, sorry
I hope you do more of these though! They're great to see!
I probably will do more of these, backgrounds/landscapes are something I've neglected quite badly.
I'd love to see them! I've been trying to practice too, maybe your stuff will inspire me
